MWF Hockey Association: Mid-Season Highlights with a Focus on Acts of Kindness

The MWF Hockey Association's current season stands out for its remarkable on-ice achievements and the heartening Acts of Kindness initiatives by various teams.

On-Ice Successes:

  • U13C Lightning: Celebrated for winning the Acts of Kindness contest, they enjoyed an unforgettable experience at an SMU game.
  • U15AA Avalanche & U13A Thunder: Demonstrated exceptional skills, securing Gold and Silver respectively in major tournaments.
  • U18AA Warriors & U11C Huskies: Showcased their talent, with the Warriors earning Silver at the Force Cup and the Blizzard Tournament.
  • U18AA Citadels and U13C Cyclones: Won gold at the Force Cup, displaying remarkable team strength and skill.
  • SEDMHA Tournament: The U18AA Warriors and U13AA Hurricanes took Silver, while the U15AAA Citadels captured Gold, highlighting their competitive excellence.

Acts of Kindness Initiatives:

  • Community Support: Teams actively participated in the Acts of Kindness Challenge, aiding organizations like IWK, Phoenix House, and Feed NS. The 2nd Annual Feed the Need Initiative was a notable success, with 690 food items raised for Feed NS.
  • U13A & U13C Lightning: Engaged in clothing drives and card-making activities, showing their commitment to community welfare.
  • U18AA Citadels and U15AA Avalanche: Raised substantial funds for the Cobequid Gated Community, exemplifying teamwork and empathy.
  • U15AA Hurricanes & U11A Avalanche: Contributed significantly to Adsum House and Northwood's Holiday Card campaign, spreading joy and support.
  • U18AA Warriors: Their contribution to the Shoebox Project highlighted their compassion and understanding of social issues.

Additional Highlights:

  • Coach Recognition: Erin Poirier and Nathan Thomas were celebrated as Coaches of the Month for their inspiring leadership.
  • Social Awareness: Teams participated in the #PinkTapeCampaign against bullying and engaged in activities emphasizing the importance of Remembrance Day.
